DAY PROGRAM
- The Day Program is for people with Alzheimer's disease or related
dementia. It offers supervised activities in a home like setting, under
the direction of professional staff who have special education and
experience in the care of people with memory loss.
- Cost: A nominal daily fee will be charged. This will cover the cost
of a nourishing meal and activity supplies.
RESPITE PROGRAM
- The respite program provides in-home relief and support for the
caregiver of the person with Alzheimer's disease.
SAFELY HOME - WANDERING REGISTRY
- This program, once a person with Alzheimer's disease has been
registered, will assist police, both locally, provincially and
nationally in quickly identifying and returning lost or wandering
persons to the caregivers.
COUNSELLING
Professional counselling is available over the telephone or in person.
We now have a counsellor on Manitoulin Island. She can be reached by
calling 705-377-4505.
ESPANOLA SATELLITE OFFICE
One day per month, VON, Espanola kindly allows our family
counselor/educator to use their office in order that we can be more
accessible to clients and families in that area. For more information or

SUPPORT GROUPS
- Through various types of support groups, families and those with
Alzheimer's disease are able to maintain and increase feelings of
self-worth and control by sharing common problems. Through trained and
competent leadership, members can experience emotional relief and are
able to help each other cope more effectively.

- An extensive library of pamphlets, books, video and audio tapes, are
available for loan.
EDUCATION
- Regular public information sessions featuring guest speakers and
videos on a variety of topics.
- Special training sessions and workshops for caregivers and
professionals alike.
SPEAKERS BUREAU
- A trained guest speaker will come to your facility or group to speak
on Alzheimer's disease.

and provides information about other community and health care services.

LEARNING SERIES
- First Link connects you to a series of education workshops that discuss every step of the Alzheimer journey. The workshops focus on how to cope with a diagnosis, living day-to-day, caregiving issues as dementia progresses, coping with behaviours, and end of life concerns.
